PJ O’Hare’s Bar (The Anchor Bar) known locally as ‘PJ’s is Carlingford’s best-known and most popular bar.
PJ O’Hare’s Bar is located in the village centre, the traditional bar is extremely popular with both locals and visitors alike.
PJ O’Hare’s Bar is part of the grocery store remains untouched over the years, complete with the framed Leprechaun bones & costume of Sean Òg, found by the late PJ O Hare. The blazing open fire welcomes customers in Winter months, providing the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy fine food or drinks.
The Lounge Bar, open at weekends, is a tasteful extension by the current owners, Michael and Bernadette Heaney. Fully air-conditioned and spacious, The Lounge Bar boasts a big screen television on which all live sport is shown during the day. The Lounge Bar is also one of Carlingford’s main venues every Friday & Saturday night, attracting visitors from far and wide and providing the perfect party atmosphere for young and old alike.
The large Beer Garden to the rear of the property provides the perfect suntrap in Summer months to eat and drink with friends and catch the rays amongst the beautiful summer blossoms.
PJ’s also won Best Gastro Pub In Louth 2012, from the Restaurant Association of Ireland. This award makes it three years in the top spot, having also won the prestigious title in 2010 & 2011!
