The Cookery School at Ghan House was established in 1993 by proprietor Joyce Carroll. Now in our 26th year,
we hold private courses tailored for groups ~ corporate, hen weekend or a family group simply wanting a course for themselves.
You make a meal with instruction & help from the experts. This will be developed into creating your lunch or 3 course dinner to be eaten at Ghan House.
Our chefs will demonstrate and advise on many aspects of cookery in our specially designed Ballroom kitchen.

We bring in 2 guest chefs for our cookery courses – Niamh Connolly & Ronan Lawless. Niamh comes to us with a wealth of experience having worked in the Michelin star L’Ecrivain kitchen as well as the Nuremore Hotel. Niamh has also spent that last 5 years teaching cookery at VEC’s; however her ambition is to some day
open her own tea rooms serving homemade cakes and pastries! Ronan has worked in the industry for twenty years. His experience has been gained by travelling and working abroad;- New Zealand, India, North Africa, Spain , Holland to name a few.
Cookery courses can be designed specifically for your group
A lot of the companies who use Ghan House for their team meetings – we are just 1 hour from Dublin & Belfast airports – use the Cookery School at as an alternative to other tired & tested teambuilding exercises.
A surprising amount can be learnt in a 2 to 3 hr ‘hands-on’ session. It can be aimed at having fun or converted into useful analogies such as waste from various foods in cooking and how it can be used and hence translated into similar practices in the workplace.
Hen Parties – Cookery and/or Wine Tasting
For an activity that everyone can do, that is inside away from the vagarities of the weather, learning to cook a three course lunch or dinner is a great ice-breaker.

For groups of 10 or more, 2 or 3 to a bedroom
1 night accommodation (Fri or Sat), breakfast, ‘hands- on’ cookery & your own cooked dinner or lunch, private dining included, €170 pp
2 nights accommodation on a Friday and Saturday, breakfast both mornings, ‘hands-on’ cookery & your own cooked dinner or lunch in your own private dining room, on one night, €250 pp
2 nights accommodation on a Friday and Saturday, breakfast both mornings, 4 course candlelit dinner cooked by our chefs on the Friday evening, ‘hands-on’ cookery & your own cooked dinner or lunch in your own private dining room on the Saturday, €300 pp
Hands on Cookery & Lunch or Dinner
Learn to cook your own lunch or dinner – usually over 3 hours in the afternoon, then have your own lunch or dinner in your own candlelit private dining room
Cost per person – €75 to €95 per person.
Wine or Champagne & Sparkling Wine Tasting.
A great way to kick start the event! – Approx 1 1/2 hours, mid afternoon.
