Hidden deep within the Cooley peninsula, this little local gem hasn’t lost any of its original authenticity over the years. Everything from the original old flagstone floor to the layers upon layers of paintjobs on the ceiling of this pub all add to its unique olden Irish pub feel. It is the only pub in the Cooley peninsula which can truly say it escaped the clutches of the recent building boom and so it retains all of its genuine Old Irish features. A beautiful open fire cascades light throughout the whole bar. For those that may have enjoyed the rich walking and beautiful cycling routes throughout the whole area and around the coast it is a welcoming sight indeed for them at the end of their travels.
The pub consists of a bar, pool room, the snug, and an outdoor smoking area. The snug is another wonderful little room at the back of the pub and which can seat up to 20 people equipped with its own fire, so you can enjoy the craic along with a pint in its cosy little atmosphere. There is also a fabulous 90″ High Definiton Big Screen in the Bar for all the major sporting events such as GAA matches, Rugby and Soccer. But as we can agree know, the very key to a traditional Irish bar is the buzz and the chat, so as soon as any sporting match is over the screen goes up out of site and the background music is turned on so everyone can then truly enjoy the unique atmosphere that this special little pub has to offer.
For those that enjoy live music, We have bands from all over playing music every Saturday night, on Sundays and on Bank Holiday weekends. Lily Finnegans love music as much as the next avid music fan so our setlist of musicians includes a wide variety of performers and musicians, from Irish Music, to Country all the way to Rock ‘n’ Roll, each week will provide you with a different act to feast your ears on.
Lily Finnegans is one of our pubs along our Cocktail Mystery Tour which we do with groups throughout the year.

It really is in the middle of nowhere but, with local patronage that includes the rugby-playing Kearney brothers, Rob and Dave, and a fabled night in 1985 when Bruce Springsteen bought all the local farmers a round of drinks, it’s a well-tested destination.
It’s my first visit but I’m immediately at home. The stone floor, the wooden dresser, the snug that was once a bedroom, the plea from Derek that he hasn’t had a chance to paint the exterior since winter so maybe I could return the following week to take pictures (and that’s before he knows I’m writing about it) It’s just an easy place to relax in and stuffed full of atmosphere – the open fire and salty sea air combining into crackling good humour as locals stroll in.
