The Space

Welcome to The Auld Shack, a delightful self-catering cottage nestled in the stunning Cooley Mountains, just a stone's throw from the picturesque village of Carlingford. This historic four-bedroom Céilí House, which dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was once a lively Irish dancing hall. Now, it has been lovingly transformed into a cosy retreat that beautifully combines original stonework and inviting fireplaces with modern comforts.

The Auld Shack features three comfortable double bedrooms and one single bedroom, accommodating up to seven guests. Each bedroom is thoughtfully designed, with Bedroom 1, 2, and 3 offering cozy double beds, while Bedroom 4 features a single bed, ideal for a child or solo traveler. The full sitting room is a warm and inviting space complete with a fireplace, a TV for entertainment, and free WiFi to keep you connected. Should you need additional sleeping arrangements, the sitting room can comfortably accommodate two more guests if arranged in advance. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for preparing hearty meals, and you’ll find two convenient bathrooms: one with a bath, shower, and toilet, and the other with a shower and toilet. For added convenience, there is a mud room equipped with an extra toilet, washing machine, and tumble dryer—ideal for freshening up after outdoor activities.

Check-in is at 16:00 and check-out is at 11:00. There is ample free parking available for guests, and local attractions such as the scenic Carlingford Lough and the historic Carlingford Castle are just a short drive away.
